For all the programmes, applicants will have to take an entrance examination on Thursday May 27, 2010. In addition, selection for Ph.D. will involve an interview at Chennai.
To obtain application forms and information brochures by post, send a demand draft for Rs. 300/- in favour of Chennai Mathematical Institute payable at Chennai. Indicate clearly your name, address and the programme(s) you are applying for. If you are applying to more than one programme, you need to send only a single demand draft for Rs. 300/-

The CMI entrance examination will be held at the following centres in 2010:
All students receive handsome scholarships that meet all expenses. B.Sc. (Hons.) students receive a scholarship of Rs. 3000/- per month, M.Sc. students receive a scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month and Ph.D. scholarships start at Rs. 12000/- per month. Students of B.Sc. (Hons) also receive an additional monthly scholarship of Rs. 2000/-, made possible through generous private donations.

Qualify for PhD Computer Science via JEST-2010: Candidates applying to the Ph.D programme in Computer Science at CMI for the academic year starting August 2010 can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2010) in Theoretical Computer Science, without writing the CMI entrance examination. These candidates should still fill out the CMI application form in full detail. Those who qualify through JEST-2010 will be notified directly with more details.

Applications are invited for admission to M.Tech programme
M.Tech programme is offered in the departments of Aerospace engineering, Applied Mechanics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics (industrial mathematics and scientific computing), mechanical engineering, metallurgical and materials engineering, ocean engineering and physics (solid state technology)
In addition, interdisciplinary programmes in Catalysis Technology, Nuclear Engineering and Petroleum Engineering and M.Tech in Clinical Engineering are also offered.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering/ technology/ architecture or equivalent, or master’s degree in chemistry/mathemati cs/physics/ life sciences or related subjects or professional qualification like AMIE and other associate membership as specified in the M.Tech admission website (http://gate. iitm.ac.in/ mtech_admissions) and valid GATE score (2010)
Candidates graduating/graduate d with B.Tech degree from IITs with CGPA of 7.5 and above for SC/ST category and 8.0 and above for others can apply without GATE score
Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC/Persons with Disabilities as per GoI rules
Candidates admitted to M.Tech programme are offered half-time teaching assistantship (HTTA) of Rs 8000/- p.m. admission to a few additional candidates who are under merit list may also be offered without HTTA. They may get HTTA after 6 months depending upon vacancy. A limited number of selected candidates will get opportunity to do M.Tech project in
Under Atomic energy regulatory board (AERB) graduate fellowship scheme, two candidates will be selected either from mechanical engineering (only in design and thermal engineering) or chemical engineering discipline or from both and they will be offered a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000/- for two years with a one time educational material allowance of Rs 5000/-.
