 B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics and Computer Science: 12th std or equivalent; B.Sc. (Hons) Physics: 12th std or equivalent; M.Sc. in Mathematics: B.Sc (Math)/B.Math/ B.Stat/B. E./B.Tech; M.Sc. in applications of Mathematics: B.Sc. (Math/ Physics/ Statistics)/ B.Math/ B.Stat/ B.E./ B.Tech; M.Sc. in computer science: B.E./B.Tech/ B.Sc. (computer science) or B.Sc.(Math) with a strong background in computer science; Ph.D. in Mathematics: B.E./B.Tech/ B.Sc. (Math)/ M.Sc (Math); Ph.D. in computer science: B.E/B.Tech/M. Sc. (computer science)/MCA

Forms may be obtained online or can be acquired in person.

For all the programmes, applicants will have to take an entrance examination on Thursday May 27, 2010. In addition, selection for Ph.D. will involve an interview at Chennai.

Application procedure

To obtain application forms and information brochures by post, send a demand draft for Rs. 300/- in favour of Chennai Mathematical Institute payable at Chennai. Indicate clearly your name, address and the programme(s) you are applying for. If you are applying to more than one programme, you need to send only a single demand draft for Rs. 300/-

The CMI entrance examination will be held at the following centres in 2010: Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Madurai, Mumbai, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Shillong and Srinagar

All students receive handsome scholarships that meet all expenses. B.Sc. (Hons.) students receive a scholarship of Rs. 3000/- per month, M.Sc. students receive a scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month and Ph.D. scholarships start at Rs. 12000/- per month. Students of B.Sc. (Hons) also receive an additional monthly scholarship of Rs. 2000/-, made possible through generous private donations.

Qualify for PhD Computer Science via JEST-2010: Candidates applying to the Ph.D programme in Computer Science at CMI for the academic year starting August 2010 can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2010) in Theoretical Computer Science, without writing the CMI entrance examination. These candidates should still fill out the CMI application form in full detail. Those who qualify through JEST-2010 will be notified directly with more details.

Applications are invited from GATE qualified candidates for admission to the Postgraduate programmes leading to M.Tech/M.Arch/ M.U.R.P. for the session 2010-11

Sponsored candidates and IIT graduates without GATE are also eligible for admission

The filled application form should be submitted along with a demand draft of Rs 400/- for General/OBC category or Rs 200/- for SC/ST/PD category, drawn in favour of Chairman, PG admission, IIT Roorkee, payable at Roorkee plus fee of Rs 100/- per additional department (if applied)

 Ph.D programmes and Post-Doctoral fellowship

Applications are also invited for admission to Ph.D and Post-Doctoral Fellowship programmes for the session 2010-11. The filled application form may be sent to the Chairman, PG admission, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee-247667, along with a demand draft of Rs 200/- per department drawn in favour of Chairman, PG admission, IIT Roorkee, payable at Roorkee

Application form and information brochure can be downloaded from the institute’s website or maybe acquired by sending a written request and a demand draft of Rs 50/- drawn in favour of Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee payable at Roorkee along with a self addressed envelope of A4 size which should reach latest by April 09, 2010.
